Friends of Peterhouse (PTA)

Peterhouse CE Primary Academy has a small, but developing, Friends Of Peterhouse which aims to raise money to support the learning of every child.

This year they are raising money to support the development of the Ark, Academy Farm, for the children.

Last Year the Friends gave the school money for books and Christmas presents for children.

What are we?

The Friends of Peterhouse(PTA) is just that - a committee of staff and parents working together for the good of the school. The Friends is a bridge between the school and parents and draws them together in a common goal – making Peterhouse the best it can be.

The majority of the Friend’s work focuses on fundraising but linked into this is a social aspect – with family fun days or quiz/race nights, fetes and fairs. The children and parents and teachers are given a way to enjoy the social aspects of school life and also feel part of the wider community of Gorleston.

The Friends has a core committee – a team of dedicated organisers who set all the wheels in motion for the main fundraising events and extra-curricular activities. The Committee meet on a regular basis (once a term) – anyone is able to join and new members are always welcome. The AGM is held in October and it’s the perfect opportunity to get on board.

What do we do?

Most of the events we run are for fund-raising purposes and most of our funds are raised through the events we run! Our Summer Fête is going to be a very popular date on the school calendar, with the Grand Draw, tombola’s, pony rides, delicious burgers, Bouncy castles and many other stalls. It’s going to be a wonderful occasion for families to socialise whilst giving something back to the school. At the other end of the year we have a Christmas Bazaar, and even Santa himself usually makes an effort to put in an appearance at that event. The Friends are always delighted with any parental help they can get, so even if you’re only able to man a stall for half an hour, your efforts will still be very much appreciated.

The children’s discos, held in the Academy hall, are always a huge hit with the children and, if you can cope with the noise levels of a hundred over-excited small people on a sugar-induced high, you’re welcome to come along and help out there too! Throughout the year we have other events or activities – a fantastic quiz night to name but one, but if there are any budding fundraisers out there, bursting with fresh ideas, we’d love to hear them!
